Sessions

A session is one conversation in one folder. Start one with New session in the sidebar and choose the folder and the account. You can also start without a project; Renviel then makes an empty folder for the session.

Writing a message

  • Type @ and part of a file name to point the agent at a file in the folder.
  • Type / for commands: undo the last turn, ask for a second opinion, switch account, fork, rename, and your own saved prompts.
  • Attach files, paste images, or drop files onto the window.
  • Use the microphone button to dictate.
  • Press ↑ in an empty box to edit your last message.

Mode, model and effort

The row under the message box sets how the next turn runs. The mode decides what the agent may do without asking, such as reading only, editing files or running commands. Each CLI has its own modes, and the menu shows only the ones yours has.

Next to it are the model and the effort level, where the CLI offers them. Higher effort takes longer and uses more of your plan.

While the agent works

The working line shows the current step, the time and the tokens. Press Esc to stop.

A message you send meanwhile waits in a queue above the box. You can edit it, move it, send it right away, or, with some CLIs, add it to the turn that is running.

In modes that ask first, a card appears before a command runs or a file changes. It shows exactly what will run. Allow it once, allow it for the rest of the session, or deny it.

After a turn

Hover an answer to see its footer: the model, how long the turn took, the tokens and the files it changed. From there you can open a change or undo the turn. See Changes and undo.

Finding your way

The sidebar groups sessions by folder. A dot on a row means the session is working, needs you, or failed. The Board lays out every session by what it needs from you.

A session can be pinned, renamed, forked, archived, or opened in its own window or beside the one on screen. ⌘K searches sessions and messages, and ⌘F searches the open session.
